Prof Dario Cantu

Professor in Systems Biology and Louis P. Martini Endowed Chair at University of California Davis

Title of presentation: Grape research in the age of pangenomes

Prof Cantù obtained his PhD in Plant Biology in 2009 and joined the faculty of the Department of Viticulture & Enology at University of California Davis 2012. Prof Cantù and his team use genomics to study a variety of grape traits, including flower sex determination, disease resistance, grape and wine aroma, and epigenetic inheritance. Prof Cantù’s team developed and maintains, a web portal that gives public access to genome references for wild and cultivated grapevines.

Field of research:
Plant and microbial genomics, domestication, disease resistance, berry development
